Description
This course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in several science topics to help prepare them for success in high school science classes. There will be hands-on laboratory/class exercises throughout the year. Classes may be a combination of lecture/discussion, labs, and class discussions/exercises. Students will be required to keep a binder with notes, labs, quizzes/tests, worksheets, and other assignments. Students will be given assignments each week (e.g., reading assignments, projects, lab reports, worksheets, etc.). These are required in order for students to fully participate in class and understand the material being presented. There will also be several quizzes and end of semester exams, some of which may be completed at home to best utilize our class time. This class will cover topics in the following areas: Physical Science, Chemistry, and Biology.
Approximate Number of Home Study Hours per Week: 3-5+
Required Materials:
- 1 inch 3-ring binder to keep homework, lab exercises, etc. (dividers optional)
- 2 folders of your choice (with pockets) for turning in assignments (required for assignments to be graded)
- Pens or pencils
- Colored pencils
- Paper
- A pair of clear safety goggles
- Access to the internet (Facebook will be used for updates, assignments, etc.)
