This class is intended to follow 5th or 6th grade Math. Students entering this class should be fluent in multiplication tables and be able to perform the 4 operations with fractions and decimals. My philosophy is to utilize each class period to the fullest by actively engaging the student in note-taking and practicing problems during class so that he/she has a tangible resource to use at home throughout the week as the lessons are completed. We will also have some lessons with hands-on materials and math games. All students are encouraged to ask questions until they have mastered each concept.
- Math 7 Teaching Textbooks curriculum with the CDs, (Supplemented with worksheets to solidify the most challenging concepts)
- 3-ring binder (any size)
- Notebook paper
- Students are encouraged to have a TI30X scientific calculator (available at WalMart or Office Max) by December. However, any scientific calculator will work for this class as long as the student is familiar with its use . Calculator usage will be very limited and reserved for specific concepts later in the book, such as solving percents.
